now that the weather is warming up we should be recording drums in a big warehouse space soon. once that ball gets rolling, it will be an obsessive, frantic series of recording sessions that will hopefully become the next Juna record. Hope to have the recording done by spring/summer and the mixing/mastering done by fall, followed by a release. would really love to get some vinyl pressed. We're definitely not going to press so many plasticky cds like on yesno. That was a learning experience. they're still free by the way (yesno cds), and I have a LOT left. So, if anyone needs drink coasters or wants to partake in some art project I have a lot of worthless plastic piled up in my wooden apartment that would suffice. bye bye

I think everyone (almost everyone) should write and record music, and all music should be freely exchanged. No money. No buisness. Just free human expression. anyone can listen to anyone elses music with no hinderance except subjective preferences. like napster in the old days but instead of famous peoples music being shared, it would be EVERYONE's music, and everyone would listen to music based on aesthetic value and without respect to celebrity or marketing. True artistic equality.... a step towards Global equality!!!!

Honor Forte has joined the band. he is playing bass, percussion, samples, slide whistle, and some accordian. come see us at 123 on Jan. 30th.

So, Chris is no longer playing with us. It was a mutual and respectful break-up. We are now seeking a multi-instrumentalist to do things like, auxillary percusion, simple key parts, samples, maybe a little guitar and/or bass and whatever else we can dream up.
Practices with the three of us have been very producrive and fruitful. I really look forward to hear how the songs pan out with a 4th member filling the spaces and contributing a fresh vibe.
serious recording to start soon i think/hope. shooting to finish recording by spring.

new news

Well, the news for today is: I am still working on new(er) material. As a live band, Juna is working on the songs that will be on the next album, as yet untitiled. We are not planning to play a show until we have set comprised of all new songs. Cameron Keenan has come on to play drums, leaving Chris to multi-instrumentalize.
The next album will be very different from yesno in many ways. It has kind-of a native american feel to it. Lyrically it is politically oriented with a radical bent, relating the tragedy of the native american plight/genocide of the 19th century to what is going on today nationally and globally. The metaphor is more of an aestetic choice, but the analogy is pretty relevant I think. Musically, it's still pretty dark, but poppier in places and more up-tempo than yesno. Has kind-of a "wild" sound.

free music

So I've been online, reading DIY blogs, listening to indie podcasts and just trying to learn about the music buisness in general. I guess I've been trying to find a way to sell my music and gain more exposure. Something about it just doesn't quite feel right.

I've come to the conclusion that this path is completely out of line with my core beliefs and who I think I should be. That is, I have decided to reject the whole treating-art-as-a-buisness capitalistic conformist music-industry mindset. I'm rejecting the idea that since I work really hard on my music and it is valuable, I should be getting money for it. The truth is, there are thousands of others making music. It is a glut market, therefor it is not really that valuable. Besides, I do not make music for money. I make music merely because I feel like it's what I need to be doing. I'm lucky enough to be able to make rent, pay for groceries and beer and still have a little to spend on recording gear. All of my needs are met. So, why should I want more out of making music?

In addition to having the MP3s freely downloadable on this site, I've decided to start giving away the remainder of the Cds I had pressed (900 or so) at shows and to anyone that wants them. So if you'd like a copy please send me an email @ jnau12@hotmail.com. Please include your address and have the subject say something like "Juna yesno" so I know you are not spam. I'm happy to pay the postage, but I may add your email to the Juna mailing list (i will discard your physical address and will not share it with anyone). K bye.

well, i havn't really sold any of these damn cds. Consequently i've decided to make the MP3s on this site freely downloadable in an effort to reach more listeners. the live shows with will and chris have gone really well. thanks to all who attended! I doubt we'll be playing much more after june 30th, at least not in this format. this is mainly because I'm sick of the material and ready to start recording the next album. I may do a little ep first, dunno yet. it's definitely going to be different than yesno... been trying to finish the lyrics and am saving for some equiptment. it's hard being a wage slave...
